I’m asking because I’m genuinely confused about this whole political landscape right now. Peter Obi and Arabambi are fighting like children while we’re here paying almost 900 naira for fuel, and my salary hasn’t moved an inch since 2023. The APC people are still there acting like everything is fine, PDP is doing their usual recycling of old politicians, and now Labour Party is scattering before our eyes.

Now I’m paying almost 1k to fuel my car from VI to Yaba daily while my startup salary hasn’t moved since the naira crashed. Honestly, I’m looking at whoever can bring back some sanity to this economy – maybe Soludo if he runs, or even some of these younger governors like Sanwo-Olu if he tries federal level. This Labour Party drama just shows these politicians are the same everywhere, fighting over positions while we’re here barely surviving on our tech salaries that used to feel decent.

My son, let me tell you something – I’ve been voting since 1979 when Shehu Shagari was campaigning with that slogan “One Nation, One Destiny.” I watched Buhari overthrow civilians in ’83, saw June 12 happen and get annulled, suffered through Abacha’s madness, and celebrated when Obasanjo came back as civilian president in ’99.
You know what I’ve learned? These politicians, they’re all the same soup, just different bowls. In 1993, we thought MKO Abiola would be our messiah, but the military scattered that dream. In 2015, we thought Buhari would change everything because he was “Mr. Integrity,” but see where that led us – naira went from 200 to dollar to over 1,500 today.
This Peter Obi and Datti wahala you’re seeing now? I witnessed the same thing when UPN scattered after Awolowo’s death, when NCNC broke into pieces, when even PDP nearly collapsed in 2014 over Jonathan and the governors’ fight. Politicians will always fight over power and money – that’s their nature.
As for 2027, make we no lie – I’ll still vote, but I’m not expecting any miracle. Whether na APC, PDP, or whoever emerges from Labour Party’s ashes, the real change must come from us citizens holding them accountable after they enter office. That fuel price you’re crying about? It started climbing from Obasanjo’s time, continued under Yar’Adua, Jonathan made it worse, Buhari scattered everything, and now Tinubu is just continuing the trend. Na so the system dey work – each one worse than the last.

You see, the problem is not really the parties, it’s the system. I watched Obasanjo promise us heaven in ’99, Yar’Adua came with his seven-point agenda, Jonathan had his transformation agenda, Buhari promised change, and now Tinubu is talking about renewed hope. The script never changes, only the actors.
This Labour Party crisis you’re seeing? Na the same thing that scattered AD in 2003, AC in 2007, and even PDP when they were fighting over who will succeed Jonathan. Nigerian politicians cannot manage success – once they smell small power, ego and personal interest will scatter everything.
But make we no lie to ourselves – fuel at 847 naira is not a Labour Party problem or APC problem alone. This subsidy wahala has been hanging on our neck since IBB’s time. Every government just dey push am forward until e reach this level where nobody fit run away again.
My advice? Vote for whoever you see at local level that is actually doing something tangible. Forget all these national drama and presidential noise. Focus on your state assembly candidate, your LGA chairman, your councilor. Na them dey affect your daily life pass. The person wey go fix the road to your area, provide water, make sure PHCN no dey take light every day – na that one matter pass president wey go just dey Aso Rock dey make policy.
2027 is still far, but start watching your local politicians now. That’s where real change dey start from.

You see, every election cycle, Nigerians get emotional about “new faces” and “change,” but the system is bigger than any individual. In 1999, we thought Obasanjo would fix everything. In 2015, we believed Buhari was our messiah. Now people are fighting over Peter Obi like he’s some kind of political Jesus.
But make we no lie – this fuel price increase and the infighting you’re seeing is exactly what the established parties want. While Labour Party people are busy fighting themselves over Abure and Arabambi, APC is quietly consolidating power and PDP is waiting in the wings with the same old recycled politicians.
For 2027, I’m not putting my hopes in any political messiah again. The real question is: which candidate has a concrete plan for refineries, which one understands that you cannot build a nation on imported fuel forever, and who has shown they can work with the National Assembly without all this drama. Because at the end of the day, whether na Tinubu, Atiku, or Peter Obi, if they can’t work with the system to deliver actual results, we’ll still be here complaining about fuel prices in 2031.

The way I see am now, na the same recycled faces everywhere – APC, PDP, Labour Party, all of them na the same WhatsApp group, just different profile pictures. Even if Jesus Christ come contest for 2027, these politicians go still find way to disappoint us, so I go just vote and prepare my mind say nothing go change.
My guy, the real question be say: which one of them go actually fix NEPA, make fuel affordable, and stop this economy from scattering more than it don already scatter? Until I see person wey fit answer that question with action, not grammar, na just vibes I dey vote with.
