In a major push to restore peace and order, the Borno State Police Command has pulled off a remarkable feat, arresting 210 suspects and securing 86 convictions in a special operation targeting crimes and social vices across the state. Between June 11 and June 18, 2025, police officers combed through communities in Borno State, cracking down on crimes such as handset snatching, thuggery, and youth gangsterism.

The operation also led to the recovery of large quantities of illegal drugs and dangerous weapons, demonstrating the police’s determination to make the state safer for everyone.

The police made some shocking discoveries during their raids. Among the items seized were:

58 sachets of Tramadol

175 pieces of Exzol tablets

130 D5 tablets

395 wraps and one kilogram of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp

Nine knives

19 shisha pots and pipes

Two customised antelope horns

28 tablets of Ermo (a hard drug)

10 bottles of syrup

These recoveries highlight the extent of criminal activities in some parts of the state and the urgent need for continued police action.

Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid

The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, who recently took over the command, spoke to the press about the operation.

“We are working closely with community members to restore law and order across Borno State,” he said.

“Our goal is to make sure everyone feels safe in their homes and communities.”

He further emphasized the importance of community support and intelligence-led policing.

“We encourage everyone to report suspicious activities. Together, we can defeat crime and make Borno State a better place for all,” the commissioner added.

This operation is not just about arrests and convictions. It is about rebuilding trust between the police and the people.

With more than 86 suspects already convicted and many others under investigation, the police are sending a strong message: crime will not be tolerated in Borno State.

“Justice is the foundation of peace. When we stand together against crime, we build a safer tomorrow for our children.”

The Borno State Police Command has promised to maintain its zero tolerance for crime and corruption. They are calling on all residents to remain vigilant and to support the police in their efforts to keep the state safe. “We will continue to work hard, but we need your help. Let’s work together for a safer Borno,” said Commissioner Abdulmajid.
