The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised alarm over what it describes as a coordinated attack by saboteurs trying to stop its ongoing reforms. The company said a group of known and unknown people, both inside and outside the organisation, are spreading lies and misinformation to damage the leadership’s reputation.

In a statement released on Friday, NNPC Ltd. management said the group is working hard to derail the company’s transformation into a corruption-free and performance-driven energy company, as directed by the President of Nigeria.

According to the company, these saboteurs are planting fake and scandalous stories in the media to distract the leadership, mislead the public, and weaken the efforts of honest staff and reform-minded Nigerians.

Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari, CEO of NNPC.

“These are calculated efforts by those who feel threatened by reform, transparency, accountability, and change, a clear evidence of the lengths to which they will go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s foremost energy institution,” the statement said.

NNPC Ltd. added that it expects even more false and damaging reports in the coming days and weeks. However, the company said it will not be discouraged and will continue with its reforms no matter the challenges.

The management called on its staff, stakeholders, and all patriotic Nigerians to stay focused, ignore the distractions, and not lose hope in the ongoing transformation.

Conclusion

NNPC Ltd. has made it clear that it will not allow any group or individual to stop its journey towards a more transparent and accountable energy sector. The company’s message is simple: despite the attacks and false reports, the reforms will continue, and NNPC Ltd. remains committed to serving Nigeria better.
