COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

A safe space for
every Nigerian.

These guidelines set the standard for everything created and shared on Akewe — videos, Shorts, live streams, comments and channels. They keep our platform safe, respectful and welcoming for creators and viewers across Nigeria and beyond.

Our values & vision

Akewe is a Nigerian-first video-sharing and creator platform built on a simple belief: Nigerian stories, talent and creativity deserve a home of their own. These Community Guidelines describe the kind of community we are building together — one where creators can express themselves boldly, viewers can explore freely, and everyone can feel safe doing so.

We want Akewe to reflect the best of Nigeria: our humour, our music, our hustle, our debates and our diversity of tribes, faiths and languages. To protect that, every member of the community shares responsibility for keeping the platform free of harm, deception and abuse. The guidelines below explain where the lines are drawn and how we enforce them fairly and consistently.

Who & what these guidelines cover

These guidelines apply to everyone who uses Akewe — creators, viewers, channel team members, advertisers and visitors — and to every form of content and interaction on the platform, including:

Videos & Shorts

Long-form uploads and short vertical clips, including titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnails.

Live streams

Real-time broadcasts and everything said, shown or shared during a live session.

Comments & chats

Public comments, replies and messages sent in live chat across the platform.

Channels & profiles

Channel names, banners, avatars, about sections and other public profile elements.

They apply whether content is public, unlisted or shared privately, and regardless of whether it was created on Akewe or uploaded from elsewhere. Channel owners are responsible for the conduct of every team member acting on their channel.

How this connects to our Terms

These Community Guidelines form part of, and should be read alongside, the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the Copyright Policy. By creating an account or using Akewe you agree to follow all of them. Where the Terms address contractual matters, these guidelines explain the practical expectations for content and behaviour. If a conflict ever arises, the Terms of Service take precedence.

Keeping the guidelines current

The internet, and the ways people misuse it, change constantly. We review and update these guidelines regularly to address new risks, emerging trends and feedback from our community. When we make material changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify creators in the Studio. Continuing to use Akewe after an update means you accept the revised guidelines.

Not sure whether something is allowed? When in doubt, leave it out — or open a support ticket and ask before you publish. We would always rather help you get it right.
