Cookie Policy
Last updated 15 July 2026 · Effective 15 July 2026
This policy explains how Akewe uses cookies and similar technologies such as local storage. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a site stores on your device. They let a site remember things between visits, like keeping you signed in or remembering your playback settings. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, do comparable jobs.
2. Categories we use
- Strictly necessary. Needed for Akewe to work, such as signing you in and keeping your session secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Functional. Remember your choices, like language, volume, and playback quality.
- Analytics. Help us understand how Akewe is used so we can improve it, used only with your consent where required.
- Advertising. Where advertising applies to an account, support relevant ads and measure them, used only with your consent where required, and never for viewers we know to be minors.
3. The cookies we set
| Name | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| ak_session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and secures your session | Session / up to 30 days |
| ak_csrf | Strictly necessary | Protects forms and requests from cross-site abuse | Session |
| ak_prefs | Functional | Remembers language, volume, and playback quality | Up to 12 months |
| ak_analytics | Analytics | Measures usage to improve Akewe (consent-based) | Up to 12 months |
| ak_ads | Advertising | Supports and measures ads where they apply (consent-based, never for minors) | Up to 12 months |
Names may vary slightly as the product evolves; the categories and purposes above are what matter.
4. Consent
Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the service cannot run without them. For analytics and advertising cookies, where the law requires it we ask for your consent first and you can change your mind at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already happened.
5. Minors
Where we know a viewer is a minor, we do not set advertising or advertising-and-analytics cookies for them, and we do not use their activity to build advertising profiles.
6. How to control cookies
You can manage non-essential cookies through the controls we provide in the product, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of Akewe from working.
